Proudly introducing one of the official new 7 wonders of the world, Table Mountain. I have lived in the shadow of Table Mountain my whole life, and whenever I travel it is an amazing experience flying into Cape Town and seeing the majesty of the mountain as we come in to land. It is a magnificent landmark, and I am proud that it has been recognised for its beauty.

These shots were taken at the Silver Falcons anniversary celebration on Friday. I was lucky enough to attend and to get shots of them in action.

On Friday, I was privileged to be at the 45’th birthday celebration of the Silver Falcons. Because it was a very small gathering I was allowed to get really close and experience the spectacular ability of these amazing pilots.

Silver Falcons

This is a Top Gun type of shot, but the difference is that these guys are the real deal.

Today’s picture is much closer to home. It was shot about 9 months ago at a car show, and I was never happy with how I processed it.

While I would love to shoot this again without all the other cars and people in the background, I am much more happy with this version.

Whenever I look at an old car like this, I wonder where it came from, what sort of life did it live, and what stores can it tell?

The best soap shop in the World is finally in Cape Town, of course that is Lush (in the V&A Waterfront). We have been to their stores in at least five countries, and every time we are loaded with soaps, but finally we can just go down the road to get their soaps.

They are very eco-aware; their soaps are vegetarian, not tested on animals, green, they support charities etc. It really is a great shop to support. Lois is really happy that they are in Cape Town. It is really worth a visit, and the soaps will make great Christmas presents.

Here is a preview of the shop.

I think that everybody in Cape Town has taken a shot of the Coke Man, and here is my contribution. He was born during the 2010 Soccer world cup, and has been here ever since. His name is Elliot, and he is made from over 2500 coke creates. I can’t tell you much more about him, aside to mention that he seems to have a few brothers scanned around the world, but there is very little official online (at least that I can find).

The medals are that he is wearing are celebrating wins from the SA Olympic team., and you can visit him anytime at the V&A Waterfront (you can’t miss him).

This will be my last pictures of the beach houses in Muizenberg. Hopefully by now some of the pictures from my trip in Spain should be starting to come through. Of all my pictures, this is my favourite, I really like the framing in it, and I think it would look great printed on canvas.

Another couple of shots of the wonderful Muizenberg beach. Spring is in the air.
Muizenberg Beach

Look how the beach seems to go on forever, you can walk for miles before turning around at the river.

This beach cabin as as brightly painted as the beach houses on Muizenberg beach. It is used by the life-saving club as a base, and although it looks a little dilapidated, it is still being put to good use.

I have been playing around with black and white conversion of some of my photos. Specifically using dodge and burn to bring out the contrast and detail in pictures. These are two of my results.

Sitting on a chair

This was taken on Greenmarket Square, a trading area in the Cape Town city centre. This man was sitting on an office chair in the middle of the street, reading the morning newspaper. If you look closely, you can read the headlines “public whipping”.
