Last night, I had a meeting at the German Club in Cape Town, and I am wondering if they should rename it to the German and Thai club. There is a tuk-tuk parked outside, and the menu is a mixture of traditional German food (mostly pork), and Thai stir-fries. I had a Thai beef & chilli noodle dish, and it was excellent.

I met the chef who is (of course) Thai! Anyway, the food is not too expensive, and is pretty good, so pop around if you have some time. They are in Roodehek Terrace, Gardens (off Hope Street).

This early morning winter sunrise was taken early this morning with my new Canon 10-22mm wide-angle lens. I don’t know why it is not raining, but I am enjoying the unexpected sunshine.

A lovely waxing moon was spotted above my house early this evening. Even though this is my Cape Town shot, you should all be able to see a similar moon tonight, so in a strange way it unifies us all. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

A dripping mushroom is a strange thing. I have no idea how it happened, but as the mushroom grew it literally dripped onto the ground and onto the mushroom next to it. It was a cold, wet and misty morning, and I suspect that the weight of the dew on the mushroom growing caused this to happen

Still rather strange.

These are the last few shots of the cars that I was shooting on Saturday at Franschhoek Motor Museum.

The iconic badge from Mercedes-Benz; stylish and stately.

Imagine going to the drive-in in this old car

Simple and elegant style in this Bugatti

A whole row of Ferrari’s, which one should I take…?

And a few more for the road.

…Las vegas. All flights and hotels are booked, passports are up to date and conference booked. So next month we are on our way!

Here is a small teaser from our previous trip.

Looking down the strip. On the left is the “Brooklyn Bridge”, and Paris and the Eiffel Tower on the right. The next shot is from the top of the tower.

Looking down the strip from the top of “the Eiffel Tower”. On the right is New York New York, with Excalubur and the Luxor in the behind it, and Mandalay Bay (the gold building) behind it.

Live music on the strip.

The Strip at night; Madame Tussauds on the left and the Venetian on the right, complete with the Rialto Bridge and St Marks Square.

I spent Saturday morning at Franschhoek Motor Museum. This amazing place has a collection of over 200 cars, ranging from the 1800’s right up to some of the fastest cars in the world. They have over 200 cards, but only 80 are in display at any time.

This was a perfect opportunity to take some photos (esp HDR photos), so here are the first few.

In my excitement I did not keep note of what cars they are, so you will just have to enjoy the pics without explanation.

I caught this shot of the bird just as he was lauching himself into the air. I don’t know what type of bird he (or she) is, but that long beak looks ideal for finding yummy worms in the ground (that is yummy from the bird’s perspective, not from mine).
