The Vistula River in Krakow with the castle on the right hand side. It’s a great place to go running or cycling (if you like it flat that is).

I saw this lovely display of fresh pumpkin & squash outside a restaurant in Krakow. It looked so great and colourful. All I can think about when I look at them is a hot and tasty vegetable curry.

This lovely old cart has clearly been retired for many years. It is now serving the rest of its live as a flower box.

If you want to visit it, you need to get to Chocho?owy Dwór just outside of Krakow, Poland, which is a lovely log-cabin hotel (my brother-in-law got married there).

It is a blanket statement to say that most street musicians are awful, but in my experience most buskers can play one or two tunes badly, simply using their instruments to get cash from the tourists.

But not all; in Krakow they have a great system. There are specific places where the musicians are allowed to play and they have a roster. Every hour or so all the musicians get up and move away, to be shortly replaces by another musician. They are also (mostly) very good.

Once such muso was this guy. He was playing classical guitar; most of which he was improvising on the spot. He was exceptionally good; clearly classically trained. We ended up sitting for quite a while listening to his guitar singing.

The system is Krakow is great (Prague has a similar setup). It lets you can sit on Krakow Square and enjoy the music without being harassed by buskers. Well except for the unofficial buskers that disappear at the vaguest sign of authority.

The ceiling of St. Mary’s Basilica on Krakow Square, Poland. I love the intricate detail and workmanship that went into building the lovely church.

For my Jewish friends have a wonderful new year (I wish I got 3 days to celebrate new year), I hope you have a wonderful new year. For the rest of us, just enjoy the rest of the weekend.

I took these pictures in the Jewish Quarter in Krakow, Poland. There is a lot of Jewish history and culture in Krakow which I will discuss further in another post.

I saw this wonderfu old cart on our recent travels to Krakow, Poland. It was just outside the hotel, but I love the old-world feel to it. I very much doubt that is has moved in years and it is unlikely to move again. But it looks lovely.

One of the courtyards at Krakow Castle (Wawel Castle). This is almost the only photograph that I managed to take of the castle since they would not let me shoot anywhere inside the buildings (and my camera does not even have a flash!). While the castle was interesting, it felt like the last outpost of communism. Everything was regulated as to where you can go, when you can go, how long you could be there etc. It was not the most tourist-friendly experience that I have ever had.
